A moody day in Genoa

With recovery from time change and a home spill near complete, it’s time for a tourist agenda!

A ride across the he bay on a “navebus” fits the bill. With clouds and a few sprinkles I travel topside with the locals (below deck) to Peglia. From the port where Columbus disembarked to transport tankers big enough to carry hundreds of tractor trailer payloads, Genoa thrives across centuries.

A bus map and a 48 hour pass on all the routes and as many of the scores of castles this access provides, it’s time to get close and personal with medieval Genoa’s ruling families.

Lessons learned:

  1. local convenience stores offer local cheeses, fresh seafood, produce and Spumante on sale for 1.49 euros a bottle!

  2. If you come across a bidet in your travels, use it!

  3. Italian candy stores mollify chocolate cravings quite well, with an infinite variety of foil wrapped delicacies.

  4. The one ounce hit of espresso is a perfect way to finish a pm meal, just as capachino is a great companion to a morning sweet.
